I'm looking for a lap steel kit but Hudson no longer makes kits, George Boards is not making bodies, and the 2x4 kit is most of what comes up on Google.
Anyone know if a reasonable (price & quality) lap steel kit is available?
Thanks!

Maybe you can find a husk here? Sometimes there are used bodies and parts available on EBay too.

reasonable (price & quality)
You just brought up the inflationary issue.reasonable (price & quality)
In our "For Instance" the price to make them has nearly Tripled in the last 3 years.
We would need to Double our price from just a year ago.
Is anyone willing to pay 300.00 for a Helix planed and CNC routed solid exotic wood Body blank?
Then add the inflated cost to have CNC Machined "Quality" top parts, tuner gears are more too, even the friggin screws cost more now.
Head on down to the CNC store - better have two checkbooks and a credit card.
Sorry for raging a littl bit , just trying to share the Love.

LOL...come on George, you and I know it's a labor of love.
Anyone thinking they are going to make money building lapsteels.....well, good luck. IMO the market is not there for it. While some people have found a niche, I'm sure it is only a handful and some of those guys were already into woodworking or machining metal and had/have the equipment for making other products more profitable than a couple of lapsteels. I always built what I wanted for me. If someone came along and offered me money and I was in the right mood, I would sell it. I am however sorry I sold the one on my forum Avatar.........that one really hurt to get rid of.
So yes, George I agree with your assessment. It's a shame, but it's a cold hard fact.
