I dropped a new 17,000 ohm single coil into my 70’ PP after trying a 705 and a 409, both I liked a lot but with the 202 Toneblock I could not tame string 3. I am running the mids on full, which I could not do before as the indents were not to my liking.
Maybe now (for a week or two) I have found the juice.

What kind of cables are you using from Steel, To VP, To amp?
Small George L cables made my steel sound picky sharp.
I changed to D'Addario Cables and they tamed the sharpness. I got one of Daddario's cable kits and made them.
There was a post topic in the Forums Electronic section about the problems small cables and some modern amps was causing. Just a few months ago.
