Newbie hello and help request!

Post by Jay Meagher »

Hello all Newbie here!

Thank you for allowing me to join your community! Unfortunately, I am not a musician, but my dad was a great guitar player, finger style not steel. He recently passed and I'm trying to help my mom go through some of his belongings. Amongst them is the ShoBud amp pictured below.
I was hoping someone here could help us identify the amp. I know he has had it for years, since I was small, my mom thinks he got it in the 70's but we have yet to find a similar one. We also have not been able to find a serial or model number.

Any help anyone here could provide would be appreciated.

I hope this is ok to post here!

Thank You!
Jay

It looks like it was made by Standel. I'm no expert but it looks similar to a Standel amp that I had back in about mid 1970s.
I don't know much but what I know I know very well.
Carter S-10 3X5, Peavey Nashville 112, plus Regal dobro and too many other instruments to mention.

Thank you Charlie,

I remember him saying that he had the speaker replaced some time back, maybe he had Standel do the work, he does have a newer Standel. Or are you saying that Standel may have built the amp originally, forgive my ignorance.

I worked at Standel 1971-1974 and we never built anything for Sho-Bud that I can recall. Seeing how Sho-Bud were from in Tennessee and Standel was in California, it would be very unlikely.
