Sho-Bud Fingertip D-11 - Need some parts....

Post by Neil Harms »

Hey Folks! Long time, no post... Picked this up last weekend. Guess I needed another project? :)

What's in the pics is what I got. Looking forward to getting it making music again. I cleaned up a D-9 years ago but have never had the opportunity to get my hands on one since.

If I can't find any usable parts, I'm planning on making a rack and pedals for it.

Anyone have an idea on what brand the knee levers are? They appear to function just fine but I will need to do some work to get two on the left knee to work the E's. Also have to swap the Day setup to Emmons.

Any thoughts or advice for me? Looking forward to digging in. N.

No advice, just encouragement! You've got a cool project there - make it sing again!
I just love those key-heads :D

Looks like a great project, To bring a 1960's Sho-Bud back from the edge to be able to sing pretty again.
Good Luck on this project.

The knee levers appear to be Emmons Push/Pull levers

I wouldn't be surprised if that's the only D11 fingertip in existence. Cool guitar

Thanks for the info! I was thinking Emmons on the knee levers but wanted confirmation. Also wondered if anyone had ever seen another D-11 like this. Given how few Fingertips of any type exist, seems logical to assume there couldn’t be many of these.

I’m slowly digging in to the cleanup process. Think I will add a low E on the E9 neck and a high D on the C6.

Need a set of pedals. Figure there’s no chance of finding a rack that will fit so just going to make one of those.

Just going to keep plodding along.

Appreciate the input!
