Gordy, others will chime in with more direct experience, but this is a Dekley student model. It was not a kit, and, by all accounts I have read, it was a decent student guitar.

At the time these guitars came out, Jim Gourley told me in St.Louis in either 1980 or 1981 that they could indeed be purchased as a kit. Each kit was about $350. Somewhere I still have a brochure on this guitar. If I ever find it I'll post the info.

Gordy,
Pics look identical to Dekley 'Renegade' Model 001. Mine has three pedals and three knees and is setup like Herby Wallace's E9 copedant.

Dan,
I can't say that it was or was not offered as the 'Pioneer' in kit form. But your post was correct in that it was a production guitar and is a student model.
It also was offered with an optional fourth knee on RKL.

I have a Pioneer, looks very much like the one on eBay in question except, my Pioneer only has one knee lever and the leg sockets/ supports are Plastic. |
