Are all of the Lashley Legrande guitars short key head or did they change the designation to Legrande II & III for the longer key head guitars?
I have a customer purchasing a Christmas present for someone. They need to be able to tell by simple observation whether or not the guitar is a SKH.
Thanks - Tom Palmer |

SKH guitars do not say "Lashley", just "Legrande". If it says Lashley, that's basically the Lashley Legrande I and has a long key head.
I believe if it just says Legrande, it's a shorty.

I hope someone, who has both types, would post some picture's so we all can see the difference. |

All short key head guitars were Legrandes. Not Lashley Legrandes. Except for a few custom orders. I have seen short keyed Lashley Legrandes. Legrande II's, and Legrande III's. But again. There are very few of these.,,,,,,bb
Edit. One thing to be careful of. You can't always go by the decals. You can order any decal you want from Emmons. I've seen guys place a LeGrande II decal on a guitar built in 87.[This message was edited by Bobby Boggs on 14 December 2006 at 03:25 PM.] [This message was edited by Bobby Boggs on 15 December 2006 at 05:46 AM.] |

and I believe that not all LEGRANDES were shortys, but as Bobby states I believe all shorties are Legrandes. I am thinking I have seen full length Legrandes .... [This message was edited by Tony Prior on 14 December 2006 at 03:41 PM.] |

I can only add the purely anecdotal evidence that my SKH Emmons is a Legrande. But it seems as though I've seen a Legrand that wasn't SKH. If that's true, then the Legrande decal wouldn't necessarily imply SKH. Further, someone could change the decal.
But the SKH really does have a significantly shorter head. I could measure the length when I get home later this evening if it would help your customer. |

Here is a picture of a long and short keyhead Emmons. You can see the difference in the distance of the Tuners. The Black is the regular or "Long Keyhead" the Green is a "Short Keyhead".

I forgot to mention That the short keyed LII's and III's I've seen have the new style changer and maybe the longer body. Can't remember about the body. |

Here is some more information on the differences between Legrande II and Legrande and Push Pull Emmons Guitars sent to me to post........
As I have not developed the technical skills necessary to post pictures, I'm sending these along to you to post if you choose.
Here they are.
The LeGrande is 32 1/2" long, the P/P is 33" long and, the Lashley LeGrande II is 33 1/2" long.
Regards,
Jay Thompson
So that tells me that the Emmons Legrande Short Keyhead is 1" shorter overall than the Lashley LeGrande II and 1/2" shorter than a Push-Pull. Hope this will answer your questions.[This message was edited by Roger Kelly on 15 December 2006 at 06:25 PM.] [This message was edited by Roger Kelly on 15 December 2006 at 06:26 PM.] |

My Emmons D10 5x8 SKH was built around 1983 or 84 Serial #175L. You will find it in the "Instruments For Sale" section.

Yes Mike, this is the one I bought from you but due to a medical problem that came up with my daughter, I am putting it up for sale. It is all you said it would be when I bought it from you. I know I'll miss it if or when it's gone. A truely great guitar.
