Post by George Rout »

The other day while browsing here somewhere, I came across tuning sheets for 6, 7, 8 and 10 string guitars. I can't find it. Does anybody recognize it!!! Thanks

Hey George,

I have over 100 lap steel tunings, organized by number of strings, on my tunings page,
https://papadafoe.com/lap-steel-tuning-database

Further down the page are links to most of the other online tuning resources.
Current Tunings:
6 String | D – D A D F# A D
7 String | D/f – f D A D F# A D

Dobro tunings

Post by Harold Bishopriggs »

I heard Alex Belaqva (you tube) play Nights in white satin on dobro. I’m hoping someone can help me out with the tuning for dobro. Thanks

I was mistaken about the song I heard on you tube by Alex Belaqva it was not Nights in white satin, it was Whiter shade of pale. If anyone knows the tuning for dobro please help. Thanks for your help.

Dobro tunings

I’m wondering if anyone knows what dobro tuning I would need for the song Whiter shade of pale by The moody blues. Thanks

For dobro/lap steel I've been using b0b's tuning lately. It's G-B-D-F#-A-D. It's a G over D tuning that offers some nice minor chords. I always felt limited by non-pedal steel guitars so it allows some more options. Try it out and see what you think!

I assume this is the video you're talking about. Mr. Belaqva says in the comments that he's using standard open G tuning:
