52' Gibson ES-150

Post by Blake Matthies »

1952 hollowbody Gibson ES-150. Pots are clean, frets have minimal wear. I replaced the original tuners, the original ones are in the case. There's some tarnishing on the tail piece and pickguard anchor, doesn't affect the playability. Action is great and the P-90 sounds incredible. Normal wear and tear. I had the input jack area repaired 20+ years ago by Rainbow here in Tucson, see pics. The serial number is smeared but the first letter is Z which equals 1952, Gibson started the reverse alphabet numbering in '52 and ending the model as we know it in '56. The finish is checked nicely and neck and body binding is in good shape. It's been gigged quite a bit, but always taken care of. The case is an Epiphone J-200 hardshell, normal wear on the case, which was new in '97. Buyer pays shipping. Cash or money order, no paypal due to recent IRS changes. $2500, Please, no lowballing. Thanks for looking!

Nice Guitar Blake!

Those 50s P-90s sound wonderful. I have a 1950 ES-175.

Back in the 80s when I lived in Tucson, Harvey at Rainbow had quite the collection of vintage instruments tucked away.
I went with a friend who bought a 50s Gretsch White Falcon from him. We tried a couple.

Not many ES-150s look as good as yours. They were heavily played guitars.

PLEASE - what does the case look like? Is it caramel brown and has stickers on it? Berklee College of Music, US Army stickers??

I had a guitar exactly like this stolen around 1990-91.
