No bass?

Post by Dave Frye »

Guys&Gals, i was reading an old Steel Guitarist mag recently, and i came across an article about Paul Franklin in his younger days and i found out he did not use any bass on his amp setteing. he was useing a Nash 400, and i tried it on my steel and Nash. Well friends i like it! Does he still not use any bass on his rig today? Any body know, Paul? Thanks guys Dave Frye

Interesting...I think I remember something about this...it would help cut through mixes.

The best I can remember Paul was using a Session 400 in his early days with Mel Tillis and he had all the pots other than volume set all the way open on 10. My memory could be wrong but that is what I remember.

I use a paevey Session 500 with a profex 2 (mainly for the effects).

I dont use any bass in fact my settings are

bass -3
mid 0
shift 2 oclock (800)
high -3
pressence +6

I really get that Franklin sound from using this.
