This is really dark and evil. Surprised it was even recorded. Not what I expected from Leon.

Maybe a sense of humor, perhaps irony?

not your typical Leon Payne song. I believe it was inspired by the movie Psycho. it's a fun one to pull out around Halloween

That one you pull out for "special" friends. Reminds me of Patrick Sky's lp "Songs That Made America Famous", which has a treasured place in my collection but never gets played with anyone else in earshot. And of course, not one of the songs could be played on the radio except for maybe "Giovanni Montini The Pope".

Thanks John. Saw a pic of Cpt. Spaulding, from a great movie you'll never want to show to your family (I'm a Rob Zombie fan).

Which came first?

This song sounds very similar to the Xmas song maybe the inspiration for it. It is by Eddie Noack and is twice as creepy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtDLN4LoPZA

I've played Eddie Noack's Do You Think I'm Psycho Mama many times on my radio show and when I heard this version I thought that they sounded eerily alike.

Do you think Im Psycho santa?

Post by john widgren »

Yup same Leon Payne tune. Psycho Santa is a re imagining of the tune for Christmas, by Thirsty Dave and Western Caravan. No animals or humans were hurt in the production of the song..although some were spoken to rather harshly....hahaha.
Merry Christmas to all!

Just to clear things up a bit . The original song Psycho recorded by Eddie Noack , Jack Kittel and lots of others , was written by Leon Payne after he “saw”the movie Psycho . The Santa song is basically Leon’s song with new lyrics by Thirsty Dave and Western Caravan . Do I have that right ?
