Russ Pahl presents the Steel Guitar Arts Council
We'd like to formally announce the creation of The Steel Guitar Arts Council, an association to foster and promote the growth of steel guitarists who are willing to bend and break the rules to express themselves. Founded by Russ Pahl, Luke Schneider, and myself.
Our goal is to be a vehicle for this movement of steel players. We want to do it in a way that includes steel players of all generations. It is not lost on us that the classic ways of playing pedal steel are special and should be revered. In creating new things, we often look to the past for inspiration.
We all have a common interest, a reverence for the steel guitar.
We'll be curating shows every couple months or so to showcase innovative players. Our first event will be a kick off party on Nov 30th in Nashville at Nelson Drum Shop. It will feature performances by Russ Pahl, Justin Schipper, Luke Schneider, and Whitten. (for more details check out our entry in the Event Announcement page)

Just an opinion.. this ticket is “free” if you open an account on the website offering it so it’s not really free,…just sayin!
I thought Nashville was the roughest, but I know I’ve said the same about them all.

It was definitely a packed house with an age range of 10 to 80!.. I think the 80 year old was a big surprise since it was none other than the legendary Lloyd Green! Nice to see the instrument stretch its perceived boundaries which are only limited by the musician playing it. I thought Russ Pahl gave a workshop in his performance and double checked all the boxes!!…Who’s on the next show?
