Who's the Steeler.

Post by Bill Dobkins »

There's a video on you tube of Gary Stewart doing she's acting single on some country show. I think it's Pop goes the country. The Steel player has a mustache. Who is it?

I haven't seen the video clip but is it the late Gary Hogue? Gary had a mustache and often played with Gary Stewart. Here's Gary Hogue at the ISGC....a great steel player who passed away much too young.

It's Gene O'Neal...

Gene O'Neal and Stewart were in Charley Pride's band together when this
taping happened...

I'm pretty sure it was on Nashville Now. Ralph Emory is seen talking to Gary. Gary is holding the same Tele and wearing the same shirt as in the Video I'm referring to.

Great video, thanks!!

Gary Stewart was an incredible entertainer, very emotive, and he was considered a god in the big Texas dance halls back in the 80's... always had HUGE crowds.
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

Yes that's the clip. Been a fan of Gary for years. I never got to meet him but know a lot of musicians who played for him.
Did he have parkinsons before his death. I seen a clip of him at Billy Bobs. He acted like he couldn't control his body.
