Post by J D Sauser »

My father in law who has been a live long professional pianist, repeatedly warned me that he didn’t see (well, hear) me LISTENING enough to music. And he is right.
So, I set up a sound sustem in the house and my phone to have all my music on it.
Homes, cars, everwhere I go, my music plays.

But lately I started to add rhythm tracks to my playlist, and oh boy did that change things in only 10 days!
Not only do I find myself “scatting” along wildly, but I seem to have less of that “blank” effect when sitting at the guitar.

… JD.

Erv... I meant listening to rhythm tracks only, WITHOUT the instrument in sight, while you drive, walk, "listen" to your mother in law yap and yap or...

The idea is to get the MIND going. Eventually to sing, improvise in humming, "scatting" without any regard of WHAT the tune is/was... hopefully, recognizing the progression (in numbers).

Thanks!... J-D.
