Don’t throw the baby out with the wash an assume that the

Growler economical price reflects the quality of a good instrument.
For good tone an playability the 6 an 10 string growler will easily hold its own with name brand steels that cost thousands more..

The knife edge changer an pull release mechanism is old school designed for tone .

The Growler also is the lightest weight pedal steel you will find.

Look at this straight grain maple this is the same kind of Maple Emmons chose too use on there steels for tone not beauty they either used Venere or Formica for beautiful Emmons steels. Jimmie Hudson has the right Recipe for good tone on his new Growler steels for sure.!!!

I love the 80/20 cross shafts! I've often wondered if it would be possible to use that system for PSG in some way.

How do the legs attach? I'd think metal threaded legs would be easier and faster imo.

The two 1/4-20 screws on the leg at the apron holds the leg in place. Takes about 1 minute to install all 4 legs and less then 2 minutes to setup ready to play.

Rex due to supply chain issues .
The Growler company will wind single coil Pickups for the Growler steel.
At this time they are winding several too find the right ohms to make the Growler
(Growl) !!!!

? re: string spacing

Post by Jerry Overstreet »

What is the string spacing? Also is it wider for the six string version or is it the same as the ten?

I used to have a Blanton D-10 with a knife-edge system, and it seemed to work great and make all the sense in the world, where the finger only rotates a few degrees. With a stiffer fulcrum and lower friction, I wonder why more companies don't do it.

Quick legs

Post by Jimmie Hudson »

The Growler has the option to add the quick change leg now.
If you are in a hurry. This is the trick.
