I have a Pro III.
I had an old finger-tip Sho~Bud that I traded in on it many years ago.
It was a VAST improvement over the finger-tip!  |

I own a 1975 Pro III Custom given to me by my father in Feb 2002 after expressing my interest to learn the pedal steel.
Now this guitar has a rich history -- My father was a close friend of Shot Jackson.
And Shot very personally oversaw the building of this Pro III and made sure it was perfect in every way.
In 1978 while visiting my father in New Orleans,Louisiana,Shot took the guitar back to Sho-Bud and had an updated pull mechinism installed along with a few other knee levers.
In the late 80's my father upgraded to a Super-Pro and the Pro III sat in it case until handed to me.
I am very proud to own this steel quitar.
Along with my Pro III my father also included a mint Peavey Session 500.
I am still working on how to play this but someday I will master it.
I might add this guitar is so special it will remain with me forever.

I used to have this one, near mint condition, expertly converted to LDG style, 4+5, custom factory inlay work in abalone. But I got an offer I couldn't refuse...which I should have, really.

Here's one I restored a few years ago, then sold. It was a bit too big and heavy for me, even though I had split cases made for it. It played and sounded good.

Hey Kenny, that was a nice guitar after I got through with it. I probably should have kept it. It sold again on Ebay a couple of years ago, so I lost track of it. Maybe a Forum member has it??? Here's a picture of the cases that W.C. Edgar made for it.

When I started playing pedal steel in the '70s, I could only afford a used Maverick. The Pro III Custom was the top of the line Sho-Bud at the time, and I use to dream about it. I quit playing for many years, and when I started up again a few years ago, I moved to a universal. But I wanted to have one classic D10 for old-times sake. I got the Walnut Pro III Custom of my long ago dreams.
P.S.: Lots of people bad mouth Pro IIIs because of the pot metal parts. Mine is in good shape, and I don't play it enough to cause wear problems. Have other Pro III owners had serious problems with parts wear or breakage? |
