Emmons pp tuning wrench ?

Post by George Kimery »

What is the allen wrench size for adjusting the end plate allen screws on my 74 Emmons pp? I lost mine and need to get a replacement.

Thanks

Emmons pp tuning wrench ?

Thanks, Jerry. 7/64 was what I was thinking, but I didn't want to buy a whole set unless I had to.

I made these for a friend the 7/64" bits have a 1/4" shank that will fit in standard nut driver.

Barry, those are very nice! Mine are just a length of the 7/64 hex glued into a wood dowel plug. Not nearly as nice.

Thanks Chris those are turned out of spice of 3/4 round aluminum bar and have a neo magnet in the end to stick to the guitar leg.

I threw this together with a surplus all-pull tuner and a cut-off ball end allen wrench & epoxy.

Lots of ways to skin that cat. Here's a GL I modded for multiple apps. Use the appropriate size smaller drill bit to drill a hole in the knob, size the hex wrench and just drive it in the tuning wrench sort of like a broach. A drop of loctite for insurance.

Allen wrenches are hardened and hard to cut, but once sized, driving it in the hole won't hurt it a bit. If it mushrooms a bit, saw it off again or file, sand, dress it down after driving it in.

...or just buy one from www.psgparts.com when they're back in stock. 😉

I was going to do something like that but I only had one of those wrenches and he wanted 2 for his PP and 2 for his Sho-Bud.

Those you crafted are really cool Barry. The magnetic feature is a nice touch also. I guess it helps hold the allen tool in the holder too?

I admire your machining work and your efforts for needed steel guitar products.

Thanks Jerry The Allen wrenches are actually just pressed into the hole with an arbor press now the ones below do go all the way to the magnet to help hold in the Allen wrench these are for Sho-Bud Rack & Barrel.
