So Cal meetup in LA -- Sunday, Oct 9th, 2022 - please RSVP

Post by George Biner »

We have scheduled a meet-up for Southern California pedal steelers. It will be at the Cat and Fiddle Pub in Hollywood, CA.

This is our first meeting, so we're going without guitars and it will be talking, eating, and drinking. One of the topics of discussion will be setting up a jam in the near future.

Details:
Sunday, October 9th, 12:15pm
The Cat and Fiddle, 742 N. Highland Av., Hollywood, CA 90038 (one block N of Melrose)
phone 323-468-3800
https://thecatandfiddle.com

A reservation has been made at the venue -- please RSVP in this thread so we can give them an accurate headcount -- (no need if you've already indicated your attendance on the original forum thread)

Looking forward to the meetup!

(Apologies to all those for whom this is a long drive, but it is perceived to be centrally located. Maybe we can get a meetup down at Jim Palenscar's shop in Oceanside that would be closer for the OC folks.) [/url]

Hey folks,

Hope alls well. I’m one of Jim’s students down in Oceanside. George, thanks for taking the initiative to get one of these meet ups going! Super stoked. Jim said he would be happy to host on October 15th. I’ll try and roll up for this one for sure.

Cheers

Reminder: For this 10/9 meetup, we will not be bringing guitars or making music -- it's just a pub/restaurant. They do have an outdoor area that they say they can put us in, so should be good for the outdoorsy people. I will also make sure they don't have any music playing to interfere with conversation.

I have 9 total people right now RSVP'd.

Christian: Regarding Paly, this meetup is on Oct 9th -- I would hope that Paly could have one a month or two from now to spread it out a bit, but of course he is a free man. If it is on Oct. 15th, I can't make it -- so will keep the 10/9 meetup. Better two than none!

Makes sense. Im just a messenger. I went into the shop after reading the thread. I can head in tomorrow and get more details. Sounds like he was open for Oct 15th, and other dates further out, with notice. I dont wanna speak for him, but I can try and get clarity on what he wants to do.

If you also want to direct message me, I can try and plan around whatever you/the rest want, down the road. Im a newbie who lives around the corner from the shop, so I have no dogs in the fight. I'm just trying to get in the mix. :)

Christian, everything is good here -- any time Paly wants to have a gathering, that's a good thing. I do urge whatever date he picks he posts it to the forum so people can show up. And the OC people are gonna love it if they don't have to drive to wonderful urban Los Angeles.

I’m not going to be able to make it after all. I had a gig previously postponed gor Covid reasons up north of Santa Barbara rescheduled for that afternoon. Sorry.

We're all set for the meetup this Sunday. About 12 people have RSVP'd.

REMINDER: WE ARE NOT PLAYING AT THIS MEETUP -- IT IS MEET AND GREET ONLY -- WE DON'T HAVE THE FACILITY OR ARRANGEMENTS FOR A JAM -- EAT AND TALK ONLY

Just spoke to Jay Dee Maness, he said he would be there. Peter F., sorry to hear you can't make it.

We are on for today at 12:15pm. Please note the restaurant said they would like to consolidate checks as much as possible -- so please bring some cash if you can to make it easier.

John: great to hear, drive safely.

Sounds like it was a fun hang, wish I could have made it, but I had relatives from out of town visiting. I wanted to see my old buddy Skip , and my new buddy John Corzine. I tip my hat to John also, he stole the show at our last jam in Vista, and he's a very nice guy too. Catt
