Nick 13 - Nighttime Sky Feat "LLOYD GREEN"

Post by Ricky Davis »

Here is Music video by Nick 13 performing "Nighttime Sky". (C) 2013 Sugar Hill Records, Featuring some most wonderful playing by Lloyd Green.
Great Song; great delivery by all. Came out 2011, not sure where it got promoted but I never heard it until now when Lloyd sent it to me. Just an AWESOME song and some of the most dynamic pedal steel delivery for the song by Lloyd.

Enjoy.

Me too, Ricky! Never heard that one before until Lloyd sent me an e-mail about it. Every word you said is true - what a dynamic tour de force for soloing and backing up, listened to the song several times in a row, that one is a real masterpiece!

Kind Regards, Walter

Ha. Yeah I used to play with a young rockabilly bass player that showed me that one. I guess the artist is/(was?) in a punk rock band but also liked to do country music and so he did a solo project in that genre. I thought that was some pretty sweet steel playing, and still have it on a playlist. Figures it would turn out to be Lloyd Green.

Someone posted this song several months ago. I fell in love with it and watched it many times and learned a few licks. While Nick's lyrics are about 180 degrees from the old timer Nashville writers, they fit him well and he uses the right players. As usual, Lloyd played all the right stuff and made the song. (In my opinion)

Also, I dig his threads!
Best lyric in a country song: "...One more, Moon..."

It's a great album with really nice playing throughout. Lloyd plays on several tracks, and another steel player (not sure who) plays on the rest of the songs and does a great job.

Here's a song, NOT by Nick 13 but by yours truly, where Lloyd very much "plays to the song" for sure, and so beautifully:

Cody, the other steel player is Greg Leisz who also produced the album (together with James Intveld).

Kind Regards, Walter
