My mystery-parts bolton came with a 70s five-way Strat switch. I knew it was bogus from the start, although the seller told me that it was original, it was -- in his words -- "how you can tell a real bolton. The switches were left over from the old stereo pickups that needed them. Emmons just used up the old stock..."
Sucker born every minute... -L-
Anyhow, I want to find a mid-60s CTS three-way switch for the guitar. Problem is, anyone have one from the early -- mid-sixties?
Thanks! |

Tom, my '66 Bolt-On had a 5 way switch with Pentad pickup installed in it as a modification. When I bought it, I had Mike Cass restore the guitar and take the pickup and 5-way switch out, and put it back like it was originally, except having 7 knees instead of 4 or 5. It's still a '66 Bolt-on restoration, just not a purist's dream. I think if you got a '66 bolt-on that needs some restoration, you still got a good deal. No?

..maybe the guy thought he was doing the right thing? I think some of the older guitars did come with the Pentad, or were modified to have the Pentad. It was a rotary switch, though, not a Strat in-line type switch.
Mike had Ron wind a new single coil for me, and Mike had a 3-way switch. He might have more, or I'm sure Bobbe would.

HiWayneI'm back in Tokyo, but without my steel. I have access to an MSA SS S-10 if I need to record something. Sorry we could not hook up. :- ) |
