Bobby Flores/Randy Rienhardt

Post by Sonny Jenkins »

I got hooked on youtube for over an hour this afternoon,,,going from one Bobby Flores song to another,,,,man,,what a talent. Bobby was a great steel player,,,but man you could really tell when Randy was playing,,,such freedom,,,,precise freedom,,,an hour well spent. Two great talents gone,,,,RIP to both!!!!

Oh yeah,,, and as most of us tune in to the fills ,just listen to the extended chords Randy pads in the background ,,and man he used to do it so effortlessly,,,,he had fun playing,,,a monster piano player too!!!!

To call that first class singing ?
And first class steel playing?

Is a real understatement

Just stellar

Well I guess everyone has heard the story of Randy and Buddy trading eights, ,or fours or whatever,,,no declared winner,,,LOL. I think they both heard music things things in their head from a different universe,,,something us mortals don't hear,LOL.
Randy was playing for a group that played our Comal County fair a year or so before he died,,,and he was kind enough to sit with my wife and I on a long break,,,enjoyed a very pleasant conversation,,,,he was really a great guy,,,

Ricky, thanks for the songs you posted. I don't believe I have ever heard that kind of emotion from a steel and vocalist. I am stunned!
