Recent videos I have seen show a steel player with him. I posted a YouTube video here not long ago of him doing "Damn Strait" at the Grand Ole Opry. No one could identify who it was though.

Scotty's steel player is Justin Ward. He appears in Scotty's latest video, playing a Blanton steel, I believe. I remember seeing Scotty and his band opening for Brad Paisley in 2012 and Justin was playing steel. The song makes references to various George Strait songs, and George Strait himself. When I saw Scotty, Justin, and the band, Scotty was a newer artist at the time as an opening act who would play maybe three or four songs before the next artists would come onstage. Justin did a great job on steel that night with Scotty and the band in Charlotte, North Carolina

Brett is correct. I met Justin last winter as he came through a venue I work at with Scott M. Yes a Blanton and the whole band had Kemper Profilers. He played more than steel as well and had a sweet rig. Great guy and player. He's on the forum but told me he doesn't post much. His playing made for a good night at work!
