Custom Fluger Weiss-Shaped Sq. (SOLD off Forum, Pending $)

Post by Mark Helm »

Custom-made, one-of-a-kind Fluger Weiss-shaped square neck with resonator cone and hollow neck. Marv Fluger sold this beauty to Jeff Kearns in 2012 when he was out on the road playing dobro and pedal steel with Steve Miller.

The guitar has laminate flame maple body (Jeff tells me Marv told him personally when he bought the guitar from him that he preferred the sound of the laminate to solid wood on a dobro). The fingerboard is Brazilian rosewood.

Other features of the guitar: Lower bout at its widest point measures 14 1/2". The depth is 3 1/2". It has the #14 spider and a Beard spun cone. Bone nut, no. 14 bridge, Grover tuners .

A favorite of Nashville session players, this instrument features the hollow neck of a Weissenborn and the precise tone of a sound-well style resonator. Sounds and looks fantastic.

Guitar is gorgeous and in like-new condition with a beautiful custom HS case (see pics):

I have seen several of the mass-produced models, but this--Jeff confirms--one-of-a-kind. Want more pics? Have questions? Just ask!

Will be packed and shipped professionally.

Thanks for looking!

Would you have any sound samples of the guitar?

No, Gino, I didn't have a chance to record Jeff playing the guitar, but it sounds a lot like the mass-produced
version (which was a pretty small run) being demoed here:
