The latest Grass Skirt Records release “Kanui and Lula” set!

Post by Ryan Matzen »

Howdy,

Did anyone score the latest Grass Skirt Records release “The Kanui and Lula book/CD”?

I just received my copy today. And, as with all of their releases, It looks fantastic!

It is possible that there may be a couple of copies still available.

Do they only release on CD?

You’d have to contact Les via his Grass Skirt Records Facebook page.

I believe they only release on CD.

If you are interested in getting a set, I would suggest getting in touch with Les right away. The last that I heard, he didn’t have many left. Since the original run sold out right away, he decided to have 40 more made. He said that once those sell, that is it.

I've only found CDs from them and I have several, Jim and Bob, Sam Ku West, Sol Hoopii and Tau Moe are one's that come to mind. They are all excellent and kinda hard to find, I don't think he presses alot. The Jim and Bob one is on Amazon right now and I highly recommend it.

Except for checking in every few months on Grass Skirt Records, I also don’t do Facebook.

Yes, another Les Cook production that is very well done; interesting to hear some new takes on old Hawaiian standards on the CD.

Note: I removed some tracking data from the Amazon links and shortened the link to the Grass Skirts catalog linked above. This helps keep the width of the discussion to a manageable length.

I don't have any plans for further releases Ryan ...to be honest sales of CDs aren't anything like they were and my distributor isn't interested in promoting them. The cost of overseas post doesn't help either.
Mind you, I have said the same things once or twice before, so you never know !
