SOLD: 1976 Fender Artist D-10 $1500
SOLD: 1976 Fender Artist D-10 $1500
This guitar used to be Bobbe Seymour’s personal instrument. Underside inscription reads “Custom bilt 4 Bobbe Seymour by Sho~Bud 1976” with Bobbe’s signature (see pic). Serial number 0814. I bought it from him on a Nashville trip in 1999. While these were typically 8+4, this instrument has 7 pedals (Bobbe removed pedal 8 on the C6 neck), and I had a vertical added to the E9 neck, so it’s actually 7+5.
These guitars have fantastic tone, reminiscent of the old Fender cable guitars, but with a more modern design. They featured a truly unique changer of a kind I’ve not seen anywhere else. The guitar basically looks like a Stringmaster on top, and a Super Pro underneath (the Fender Artist series was in fact a collaboration between Fender and Sho~Bud). Only downside of these things was the pot-metal brackets used on the knee levers. I’ve busted two, and one of those still requires replacement (RKR). It’s a known problem that is fixable. Pricing reflects that pending repair job.
***UPDATE: RKR is fixed! (Thanks for the parts, Ian Worley.)***
Price remains $1500 for the Forum family.
The guitar was expertly set up by Buck Reid when I purchased it, including the addition of the vertical, along with compensators on E9 strings 1 & 7, which I requested. The D-10 Artists are becoming increasingly rare, and I’d gladly keep this guitar if I played more C6. The original case had some wear, and Bobbe sold it to me with a brand new case (see pics). I am in Northern California now (Sacramento area) and would prefer not to ship, so a local buyer is preferred. I’ll drive it to you or we can meet halfway. ***Not interested in trades***

***UPDATE***
I believe I have a California buyer for this guitar. I will notify when this sale is complete.

One of these? It's yours if you want to pick it up in E Sac. I've never owned an Artist, but I've owned/rebuilt/repaired many Sho-Buds, have stash of misc parts. Off topic but... we'll be having a steel jam at the Side Door in Sac in Sept/Oct, you should come join us. We just did it in March, had a about a dozen players, it was a lot of fun.Greg Vincent wrote:Ian:
1.) Awesome profile pic.
2.) Thank you so much for offering that part! In this instance, the knee lever that attaches to that bracket snapped, so it’s actually a simpler job than replacing that bracket.
Hope we run into each other at some point. Are/were you a Fender Artist owner?

One of my students had a Fender S10, I couldn't believe the great tone, and it had almost no cabinet drop at all. Someone grab this rare beauty! Greg is a standup good pal of mine.
