Stevie Ray Vaughan Corvette?

Post by Don R Brown »

I'm on a Corvette forum, and there is a question regarding his possible purchase of a red 1966 Corvette, in September 1988. There is a copy of a dealer's receipt showing SRV put a $500 check as a refundable deposit on 9-24-88, to hold the car until 6:30 PM on 9-27-88. A month later the amount, or maybe the check itself, was returned. There's also a notation about "Paid in full" but it's not clear if the entire purchase was paid, or just the deposit.

Anybody remember anything about this?

Corvette Country is still around and still using that same phone number. Maybe ask them?

Mike, that's certainly worth asking. I posted your suggestion on the car forum but nobody has followed up yet. One would think that a car once owned by a "big name" would be remembered as such even if it was sold a couple times. Oh well, it wasn't me who started that search, I am just trying to help them out. Thanks for the suggestion! Image

According to what I see on the internet, that car was sold at a Barrett-Jackson Collector Car auction in 1989 for an undisclosed price. The car had been purchased by Vaughn only a year before, on 9/24/1988.

Thank you Donnie, I have posted that to the thread which asked. Someone on that thread had a listing of his estate and the car was not on it. Glad to hear it was auctioned off and is probably in a collection, rather than being wrecked.
