Chords Time Is Tight

Post by Tom Vollmer »

I am sure I am not the only Steeler using an Organ Effect. In doing so am playing some Booker T tunes, one being Time Is Tight. On the long version the tune ends with a dynamic set of chord changes which I have figured out missing one or two. To describe the change it is when the tune in Key of C
goes to C minor then ? ,D, G, C m, G, Cm. Hope this describes the area. Thanks much for any help. PS I am using Line 6 Roto Machine for the Leslie Effect.

Great groove that transfers nicely to C6. Whether using an organ and/or Leslie effect or not (I use a RT-20), Time Is Tight remains a classic in my book. Since I generally play the short version, I can't help with the outro chords on the long version, but it seems like you're on the right track.

This site will give you the simple chords to the song when you click the "Play" arrow, and also the advanced chords if you click the "Advance Chords" box.

Enjoy!

Outro Chords

Post by Tom Vollmer »

Donny Thanks, that is the short version. On the long version I have come up with Cm, Bb, D, G, Fm, C, Fm(2x), Db, G, C
Gm, A, Dm, C F, A, D, Gm, D, Gm (2x) F F7, Db, Bm, (2x)
F, F7, Bb m, (2x) F, Etc. Many of these are 1 stroke, I feel this is close if not perfect, however it sounds great playing steel sound also. On the Booker T recording it is played with Leslie Fast Rotor Effect. Knowledge of 5th Cycle really helps when trying to analyze a tune such as this.
