Hank Williams steeler before Jerry Byrd or Don Helms

Post by Clyde Mattocks »

I realize this could easily go in Steel Without Pedals or here. I am involved in another Hank tribute project. Does anyone know who the player was that cut Move It On Over. It is a pretty good example of early-mid 40s style.

That was Smokey Loehman on the original cut.

Thanks Donny. So much of the stuff we're doing is Helms, so I'm using his E6th tuning. I've always loved this break. I can get pretty close with it, but I hear that D string in there which indicates he's playing it out of an E 13.
