I decided to replace the stock Sho~Bud single coil pickup (18,600) with an L710 humbucker. Until recently, I hadn’t realized that Becky & Shannon (Wilde Pickups) had relocated to Macon, GA. I ordered the L710 and received it in only 5 days. It’s very quiet, being a humbucking pickup, is very clear and rich with excellent string separation, adjusted to a “loose” 3 quarters distance below strings. It’s good to see that both, Becky and Shannon are carrying on “Wilde Bill’s legacy. Many years ago, I enjoyed visiting with Bill and Becky Lawrence at the Texas Steel Guitar Jamboree in Dallas. I didn’t understand very much but I sure liked them a lot. My thanks to Ricky Davis for valuable installation advice.

That’s a fine looking pickup Jerry! I’ve never tried the 710 but really like the 705 in my Studio Pro. Thanks for posting…Carl

I just installed an L710 in my new GFI. It was custom made to fit in the slightly smaller pickup cavity in a GFI.

Nothing really wrong with the original GFI III pickup, just my ears are used to the Lawrence 710 sound as I had them in my D-10 Franklin and D-10 GFI.

The 710 is my favorite, although I have moved to the XR16 for E9th, so I can switch between single coil and humbucker. I put 710's in both Sho~Buds I had (Professional and Super~Pro), Williams D10, Carter D10 (now with the XR16 on E9). Love BL pickups.I heard you can get a 3 or 4 wire 710 to allow different coil tap options with a switch. But I don't know that first hand. All 710's I ever had were 2 wire models.

Richard; Jack and others. In Short; the Great Bill Lawrence passed away at 82 years old in 2013. So any pickup you got previous to his death was made by him and/or Wife Becky and is/was VERY GOOD. The company and making of pickups did continue on and the quality and new multi-wiring were changes Widow Becky did not continue; therefore started her own "Wilde Bill" trade name; website and her and Daughter Shannon moved from California to Georgia and opened up shop and is THE 710 with coil tap wire I'm talking about that is FAR BEYOND any pickup sound since 2013 and to read more since this history and story are something you have to know to know if you have a ORIGINAL made by Becky Lawrence(who made most all pickups last years of husband Bill's life) or the continued company not really making the way Bill and Becky did.

Carl, thank you. Larry, mighty fine looking Excel, really like that color/type mica. My L710 from Becky and Shannon has the 3 wire hookup (white-positive, black- ground, red-coil tap) however, I chose not to install a coil tap switch at this time. I’ve played it almost all day with various amp and pedal combinations. My Sho~Bud pedal, Goodrich Omni (even in active mode) and Hilton all worked fine with the L710. There was no overloading of the signal while using any of them which was my primary concern, especially when using my Peavey fex” units. I’ll have to admit though, the LDG w/L710 straight to the Sho~Bud volume pedal and then into the Fender Twin Reverb Tone Master was hard to beat.😀

The L710's I installed in my Franklin were the early ones (around 2000) built by Bill. The later ones I installed in a GFI were made by "Becky and Shannon" in California. The one I installed in my current GFI, in March, was made by Shannon in their new Georgia location. I see no difference in quality or sound between the original 710's that Bill built or later models. Becky said they are made identical to how Bill made them.

Being an electronics tech and former amp tech I had several long telephone calls "listening to Bill". Bill also "cornered" me at the ISGC one year. I also remember Bill from a show he did at the Airman's club at Hahn Air Base Germany (I was stationed there 56-59). When Bill found out about that it generated more long phone conversations.
