"BUDDY EMMONS: Steel Guitar Icon" Arrives September 6, 2022

Post by Fish »

I'm please to announce the publication date for "BUDDY EMMONS: Steel Guitar Icon" will be September 6, 2022.

The book—a merger of biography and memoir and published by the respected University of Illinois Press—draws extensively from in-depth interviews with Buddy Emmons and the artist's autobiographical writings. Emmons went from playing strip clubs to his Grand Ole Opry debut with Little Jimmy Dickens and the Country Boys at age 18. His restless experimentation led to work with Ernest Tubb and Ray Price and established his career alongside a who’s who of American music. The book weaves in stories and anecdotes from Willie Nelson, Brenda Lee, Linda Ronstadt, Pat Martino, Duane Eddy, Judy Collins and many others to provide a musical and personal portrait of the legendary innovator whose peerless playing and countless recordings recognized no boundaries.

There will be more announcements in the coming weeks.

Off in the distance, I can hear Buddy’s unmistakeable laugh! As of this moment, he’s #1 in his category at Amazon:

Mr.. Freniere, Very well spoken:

"Super news, Steve! Thanks for all your hard work completing the Emmons Trilogy: the Big E Salute, the CMHOF Celebration, and now the book. On to the biopic!"

I'd like to add, Mr. Fishell has done many more then a trio of contributions to advance the legacy of Buddy Emmons. Maybe an octet or more.
This is great news. I just clicked pre-order on 6 copies (for now). "Buddy Emmons Steel Guitar Icon" is the perfect gift for friends who have helped me during the year. This is very exciting.

This is great Fish.

This book along with an offer from Robert Kramer for a personal tour of the Country Music Hall of Fame will surely seal what I have been striving to do.

"Keep steel guitar alive".

Bill Ferguson

Hi JD and everyone. Thank you for picking up a copy of the book. It's important that Buddy's story is preserved and handed down to future generations. I appreciate your help.
