The documentary exploring the future of steel guitar got it's first review.
There is another documentary being made that plans to cover the history. Honestly, as a nerd I feel we could never do the history justice, even if I tried with a 10 part mini-series. So as the review kinda bites into us, we expected this. We also didn't want to get too heady and alienate common fans or people unfamiliar with the instrument. I can't wait to see the other documentary myself, but also hope you can see our work soon!

I feel the review was honest, didn't give away anything, and super happy they understood the film.
As a filmmaker and artist, nothing is more flattering than when someone "gets it" and I can truly feel proud of the work we put in. I can't wait for you to see it and of course can't thank you all enough for helping us share our message about steel. We are first time filmmakers, so not only was it a long process -it was also heavy trying to live up to our own expectations as pedal steel players ourselves. As a reminder, Kelsey Hammer-Parks made this doc with me and she is amazing at everything she does.
I should add, we feel blessed having new original music from Russ Pahl, Cowboy Eddie Long, Rose Sinclair, and featuring songs from Mike Daly’s Renescence album --definitely helped the vibe and story. Ps... if you haven't checked out Mike's album, I highly recommend it!
Also, I have some news I can't wait to share very soon! But I can't announce yet...
If you aren't following us on Facebook or Instagram, I beg you.
Film Festivals need to know how big and amazing the steel community is.

Thanks for believing in us and the steel guitar, the steel community is truly the best!

Also, you might recognize our mentor Roger Miller (not the singer or steel builder), he was a big inspiration for the film. Roger often played 6 string with Scotty's ISGC backing band and teaches young students in Iowa pedal steel. At Scotty's last convention, most of the youth showcase was Roger's students.

Currently we are just submitting it to film festivals for the spring and summer.
Ps... I still enjoy your jazz album I picked up from the ISGC!
