A guy named Jeff Moss,,,,who was recommended by forum member Scott Bertang is offering to sell me Tom Brumley's old Anapeg,,,,that was posted for sale by Colin Goss a few years back,,,,for $1200!!!!! He sent me pictures (same ones that Colin posted) and same description.

I think it sold back then for $11,000.00,,,,so,,,should I buy it for $1200???

This looks like the deal of the century!!!!!

Here is Colin's post https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtop ... ght=anapeg

Is this a serious question? And are you sure he didn't mean $12,000? I find it hard to believe that anybody would sell a guitar they actually owned and had $11,000 in for $1200. Nor do I think it would be ethical to take Tom's Anapeg for that, especially after reading all that went with that particular forum thread from Colin. The fact that Colin's pictures are being used would be a big warning flag for me.

I find that most of the time, something that sounds way too good to be true, is.

BTW - there is no forum member Scott Bertang - but a Scott Bertrang, who joined 3 days ago, selling a refin Stringmaster here - link redacted.

There is no forum member named Jeff Moss.

Edit - redacted link to for sale thread.

Actually I think Scott Bertrang and Jeff Moss MAY be the same person,,,as well as another guy that I can't think of his name right now.

I finally got an address "to send a MO to",,,the name of Linda McElmury in Winfield, KS. The paypal account he tried to get me to send funds to was wq168168@foxmail.com. Paypal advised me that there had been suspicious activity on that account.

FWIW,,,I had no intention of sending this guy money,,,I was just trying to find out more info on him to report it,,,and to let SGF members know as much as I could.

Who is this guy, really?

He's apparently also using the name Carl Becker (not a member).
