Sorry to hear it! I was playing a festival in Vermont a few years back that I think was his last gig. I recall him saying that he was retiring at that time. One the true banjo greats. Hard driving and rock solid!!

yes Sir, old school , like Earl, Ralph, Sonny and few more … I don’t care much for todays banjo players , no groove , just some plinking up and down the neck running scales and stuff , no balls , no groove
