There is some good info on Bruce in this thread. Just terrible what happened to him:
https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtop ... 5213671a60
Sadly, he passed away in May of 2021:

I had the dubious distinction of coming in behind him in Ronnie Milsap’s band. I even inherited his bunk on the bus. He was a great player, and while I didn’t know him personally, from all I ever heard was a great guy as well..

Bruce Brooks
I seem to recall my friend, the late L. C. Agnew told me that Bruce Brooks was once a member of L. C.’s house band at his Ponderosa Ballroom in Abilene, Texas before going to Nashville? That was years ago, but I think that’s right?

Thanks for those clips, Jeff! Milsap was a real treasure...would you belive 35 #1 hits?!
I love those little flurries Bruce plays in between the vocals near the end in the second clip. But judging by the answers in the "Performance etiquette" thread, many of the old-timers here would call that downright overplaying. I really dig that kinda stuff though; it's unobtrusive, down in the mix (the player knows dynamics), and it adds some "spice" to an otherwise (IMHO) boring song.
Maybe I'm the youngest "old-timer" here?
