From Hawaii to you with Clinesmith Frypan

Post by Paolo Conti »

Here is the song "From Hawaii to You", composed by Lani Sang and played by my band Kanis and Lou.
We were inspired by Alfred Apaka and the Hawaiian Village Serenaders' version from the Tapa Room Tapes. I discovered these Tapa Room Tapes thanks to this great forum. Another song I discovered from this recordings, "Frenesi", will be on the forthcoming album of the band.

Hope you'll like our version.

Top stuff! :D Nice video production, good lighting. I had no idea that song was a Lani Sang. He doesn't seem to have turned out a lot, but it was quality over quantity.

Thank you for your kind words ! It means a lot.
It's a pleasure to play in this band. Corentin, the percussionist and Matthieu, the Upright bass player aren't into this music as much as Lou and I, but anyway I think we are starting to find a decent sound. We just need to play more together.

David, the only other song I know from Lani Sang is Mapuana, another song I like a lot.

Concerning the sound of the Clinesmith Frypan, this guitar has so much to give, I am really pleased with it. The only other steel I like as much is my Fender Dual Pro with these great Trapezoid PU. I am just curious to try other amps than my Fender Pro Junior with the Clinesmith.

Thanks again :)

Paolo, there are two tracks by Lani Sang and the Poi Boys on Spotify. Sea and Sand, and Ginger Memories. I assume they are Lani's compositions. They are both very nice songs with good steel guitar. I think there is another well known number by Lani, but it escapes me.
