Mr. Wheeler Auction results.

Post by Karl Paulsen »

The sale thread was closed, but I was curious to hear what folks picked up from the auction of musical items from Mr. Wheeler's estate.

I got my cables, mic connectors and Peavey Amp footswitch in a timely manner and the auction house didn't even charge me shipping!

The items I've tested seem to work. Some folks reported heavy smoke smell, but I didn't notice any odor. Perhaps I dodged a bullet not winning any of the printed material lots?

I got a ZOOM GS-50. It came in the mail this morning. Like new, but yes I did notice a faint cigarette smell on the box when I opened it.

I picked up the Goodrich volume pedal- it was in great shape and works perfectly. I put my nose in there and inhaled deeply and could smell smoke, so I probably won't do that again.

Auction was quick, great prices and shipped super fast. No complaints here!

For those that have items that smell like smoke, I have found repeated uses of an Ozone generator to work to get rid of the smell. I used mine and sealed a large rubbermaid tub for the treatments. YMMV, but maybe it will help someone if it really bothers them.

I got one of the ZB Custom volume pedals. All was as represented and expected. I saw the disclaimer that most of the items were "untested" and knew that could be an issue.

The pedal arrived today and it looks like I'll be cracking it open for some "geared" pot repair. I don't mind. It should buff out nicely and will look good under my ZB guitar.

Collin was a good man to deal with after the auction.

Emmons U-12

Post by Jon Kostal »

Just an interesting note, the Emmons U-12 that sold was my guitar, I bought it in 2005. There's a pic with the date on the underside in my handwriting. It was a great guitar, but I bought my original D-10 back and never played the U-12, so I sold it on the forum in 2009 to Mike. I paid $2500 for it in 2005 and sold it to Mike in 2009 for $2500. It sold for a little under that, and I consider that to be a good deal. I actually considered buying it back again!
