Emmons Le Grande Pedal Steel Year Unknown

Post by Johnny Pal »

Aloha: I have an Emmons Legrande D10 (with a small horseshoe icon after Legrande), serial number 1170L.
It has 8 pedals, 4 vertical knls and one horizontal lever. Does anyone know approximately what year it was built and
its potential value? It has no serious damage, chips, cracks or rust. Undercarriage clean as a hounds tooth. Looking
to sell or trade for and MSA D10.

1993-94. Going rate between $2500-4000, or what someone wants to pay for it !

If it were Black,Rosewood, or Red. I'd say late 92. Since it's a less popular color, it could be several years later. Makes no difference. It's the same guitar if it's a 91 thru 99. I should state that some of the 91's had 4 hole bellcranks but most had 14. The CO. was sold around 99.Never owned one later than a 99. So I have no opinion as to how good or bad they are.

Bobby Boggs, John Swain, Lee Warren, Gary Roda Mahalo everyone for the data bits. From
an analysis of all the great information, the Legrande is from 1991 - 1999 but more likely 92/93;
it is sea green, has 14 holes in the bell cranks, value between 2 1/2 to 4k. That's way more
than I ever knew before consulting with you guys.
Thanks loads!

Same here, bad aol link.

You should post more pictures here on the forum to get a closer idea. Show the steel from all angles and get some close ups of the undercarriage.

Mine is a 93 and is Serial # 962L
But remember that Emmons Company did not always run their serial numbers in order. It may have been issued a serial number in one year and actually built in another year in either direction.

Based on recent sales, I would suspect you would realistically get $3000 for your steel. Keep in mind that packing and shipping and INSURANCE will cost in the range of $300 these days.
AUTHORIZED George L's, Goodrich, Telonics and Peavey Dealer: I have 2 steels and several amps. My current rig of choice is 1993 Emmons LeGrande w/ 108 pups (Jack Strayhorn built for me), Goodrich OMNI Volume Pedal, George L's cables, Goodrich Baby Bloomer and Peavey Nashville 112. Can't get much sweeter.

Emmons Le Grande Pedal Steel Year Unknown

UPDATE ON LASHLEY LEGRANDE D10:
Aloha Everyone who responded to the Lashley LeGrande 4 sale. Before going any further, I am
sending it to Jim Palenscar in Oceanside for a set-up and close inspection/repair of any issues
with the rods, bell cranks, springs etc., all pedals and KNLS for the E9 and C6 necks. I will
then list a purchase price. I sincerely thank you for all your responses.
BTW when I first listed it, I actually attached a photo of the entire PSG but for some reason
after uploading, the system kicked out the photo ~ bizarre. I'll send comprehensive photos after JP's finished.
p.s. Jim is a 280 mile round trip run from me, but well worth the time and travel.
Mahalo!

Emmons company called it a Cayman Green. I’ve seen many guitars with that color.

Serial Number?

Post by Allen Howington »

Johnny, are you sure about the serial number, you said it was serial number 1170L, I only see four "illegible" numbers without the "L" ??

Since this guitar isn't actually for sale right now, and there are confusing posts about other guitars, I've moved the post from the Classified Ads to the Pedal Steel section.
