Greg Leisz and Val McCallum with Jackson Brown on ACL
Anybody catch this?
Good show/sound.
It was great to see that JB has aged gracefully and still has it musically.
Greg Leisz played a myriad of lap steels and got some great tone. His tone on the Williams PSG is unique IMO and appropriate for the genre.
Val is a neighbor here in VT. Got to jam with him and then visit his home/studio when I put down some tracks for our mutual friend Davey Davis. (not the famous one).
Val is an exceptional guitarist and singe /songwriter on his own...and yes he is Ducky's son. (David McCallum)

Thx! 😀
Super. A famous venue, supporting great talent blends over the decades. Here, it’s like biting into a perfectly cooked cut of beef after a steady diet of bland Mac n cheeses. They push each other to lofty places. Truly a marvel to hear every nuance of as near human genius thru soundscapes as could be performed live. IMHO

Well. I have to agree with you guys. What a master class in taste especially between Leisz (on all his instruments) and Val McCallum.
Even before I played steel or thought much about it -- and even before I realized Jackson Browne co-wrote "Take it Easy" -- I always thought his version was more interesting than the famous one. Nice pedal steel solos here by Leisz.
The thing that surprised me was how close he got to channeling the Lindley tone and style on his lap steel.

Terrific... Band was wonderful,JB sounds as good as ever, and looks great. Take it Easy was very nice, but in recent performances, JB seems to default closer to the Eagles version than to his own. Kind of hybridizes it between both which is certainly not a bad thing...
ACL has lost me pretty much, too much music I simply don't like there in recent years, and I seldom watch it any more. However, this show was exceptional.
I don't think I have ever heard JB perform in a less than stellar fashion. Consistent and precise, always has first rate bands and backup, and flawless arrangements.....
