I'm looking to get a delay pedal and a plug-in tuner to use with my pedal steel. Ideally, I'd like to minimize the amount of gear I need to schlep around. Do you have any recommendations for a pedal that can do delay and tell me what note I'm playing? I'm looking to tune to an even-tempered tuning, no fancy offsets necessary. |

The only pedal like that I can think of is the zoom cdr-70. Lots of different delays and reverbs with a tuner built in. Not a great tuner, but it'll get you in the ball park. _________________ '02 Carter S-12 uni

The issue you'll run into is that if those pedals were on a pedalboard, the tuner is typically the first thing you plug into, and the delay is one of the last. So you're probably relegated to a multi-effects unit like Nathan mentioned, or making up a tiny pedalboard with two discrete pedals. _________________ If something I wrote can be interpreted two ways, and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, I meant the other one.

Can modern multi-effects be configured to keep the tuner active without muting? Most every multi-effects unit has a tuner and delay in it, but the few I have experience with mute the output when the tuner is engaged.
You can get pretty small tuners and delay pedals these days. A pair of small pedals mounted to a piece of hardboard could take up less space than even one of the small 2 pedal MultiFX units. So small it might drop straight into a pack-a-seat compartment. A single wall wart power with a splitter cable for power and you're good to go. _________________ Nickel and Steel. If you do not require offsets, why not use a good quality clip on tuner for your instrument (the Peterson is excellent)? I have used one in a pinch to tune my pedal steel by placing it lying flat behind the neck. |

I use the Peterson clip on for my Dobro and mandolin. It does have the offsets. I tried it on my PSG and it sucked. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) .
