I reread the thread about Chalker's Fender 1000. You asked about Gary Walker.
I met him in the mid-60's, I think, at the first steel fest Tom Bradshaw put on at Napa and spoke with him later at a similar steelfest in Dallas. This was the one where Curly put the guy down that asked him to "play something like Emmons." Several noteworthys were there incl. Jimmy Day. I recall a couple of players from the Dallas area - Larry White and Albert Talley - both darn good.
Jimmy Day was playing some jazzy stuff on C6 (Blanton guitar) and Curly called him a name I won't repeat here (affectionate, of course). Gary Walker commented on what a high-strung guy Chalker was.
