Topic: Homespun Western Swing C6 tuning? |

| I just downloaded Homespun's western swing video and noticed that the tuning is different from what my SIT strings are designed for. I have the 8-string set (G-A-C-E-G-A-C-E). But the tuning Cindy is using is A-C-E-G-A-C-E-G. I ended up breaking my 1st string trying to tune to this. Am I missing something here? Did I get the wrong strings? |

Cindy's version of C6th is identical to the Leon McAuliffe A6th tuning only pitched in C.

Hi Ron,
the issue here was that the course is designed for what is called high C6th, which has a high g string on top. The set you bought it for low c6th which has a high E on top, with a LOW g in the bass. The .015 string was too high to be tuned up to G, and that is why it broke.
.011 or .012 is a better fit for that high G. |

It's been a couple of years since I worked on that dvd, but if memory serves a lot of what she did was doable on the C6 tuning you're using. When she's on her 1st (and 2nd) string(s), you need to work out where the notes are higher up the neck. I remember writing it all in on my tab.
But changing tunings isn't bad if you want.
