Hey all

I have just done a nice version of "Harbour Lights"
Very South Sea ish, and C6th ish (OnE9)

I haven't offered it on the Forum, as I know many of you, (from your comments), don't know the "Oldies"

Reply to this post here and let me know/comment, if you know the song. (Don't email please)

If enough folks know the song, I may offer it here on the Forum.

Offer open until 31st October 2021.

Kind Regards

Harbor Lights is a great ol' tune... I first heard it in the 60s by the Platters... then, about a dozen Hawaiian records, like Webley Edwards Hawaii Calls... Love it...

This is a great song like Sleepwalk, Beyond the Reef & others. I do a primitive version in key of D on the E9 neck. I just lower my Es thru out but struggle with the phrasing on the Bridge. I love it.
I could be wrong but I thought Harbor Lights came out in the late 30s.

Harger Lights

Post by Bud Harger »

John,

The spelling interests me. "Harbour" versus "Harbor", I'm not sure! I think in the U.S. it's "Harbor".

Like Jack Stoner, I play this song in D on C6th. I have been playing it on C6th since the 50's before I had pedals. My guitar was a T-8 Fender Professional. It's much more fun and sounds so much better, with pedals.

Back then... our Band Leader would introduce the song as "HARGER Lights", which I think is appropriate. Right?

That's the label I used for it on my Instrumental CD... "HARGER Lights".

Have fun. Thanks, John, for all you do for all of us.

Best personal regards.

Love that song! I learned it from the Elvis "Sun Sessions", where he sings a very spooky version. I've also messed with it on C6 lap. I'd love an E9 psg version.

I saw the harbour lights. Always loved this song.
I'd like to have a copy if you get a chance.
I think originally recorded in approx. 1937, so it's a few years older than me.
I don't know much but what I know I know very well.

Hey All

I had not intended to offer this tab on The Forum, as I was not sure there would be any interest. The Tab for the beautiful Hymn, "Abide With Me", did not receive one request.

I will send the tab to anyone requesting it from me.
Send your email address to jrtablaturepsg@gmail.com

Kind regards

One of the first steel songs I learned on C6. Still enjoy playing it. It's a beautiful song to play on steel. I can't wait to play it E9.
Thank you John for offering this to us. Really appreciate your effort.
