American singer-songwriter WC Edgar here on the road
A few weeks back I was touring in California and had a gig in San Diego.
I had a steel player with me and told him we had to go by Steel Guitar's of North County in Oceanside to see Jim.
While we were there Jim adjusted his Zum that was slightly overtuned.
After spending a couple hours at the shop we hit the road again.
Thanks again Jim for doing what you do best, 'being a good human being'.
WC Edgar

Jim made me a custom fretboard for Carl Dixon's custom Excel Superb that was less "nervous". I still play (again) on it.
We rarely talk (write) and when we do, it's in few words. But the commitment is huge.

Thanks for the kind words. I recall making that fretboard for you J.D. and talking about accuracy of the dimensions when you said that you were a Swiss engineer and needed it to be right- indicating to me that you were nervous about it. You seemed to relax a bit when I told you that the frets were accurate to w/in .001" but the final determinants for the outside diameter were determined by my belt sander

I still play on it... and while it has ALMOST no fret markers (DOTS) you put "J-D. Sauser" at the bottom of it. I hope you saved the file... we might need another one.Jim Palenscar wrote:Thanks for the kind words. True, that.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?
