Hey......I'm currently on tour, playing guitar, mando and a couple lap steels. I have stands for the guitar and mando, but I'd like to find something that holds TWO steels. Anything out there. It's for a Supro and Georgeboards that kinda National shaped. Pretty standard.
Ideas?
Thanks!
(PS.....I mean like a guitar stand, NOT a Deluxe34, hold it in playing position, type stand) |

Deluxe 34 made me a double lap steel mount a few years back--held a Clinesmith 8 string plank and a Clinesmith 10 string plank. Worked great.

I think Jim is not looking for a stand like a Deluxe34 stand to hold the steels in playing position, but something to support or hang a lap steel in the same way as a guitar stand holds a guitar.
I have this same issue, and haven't really found what I consider to be a great stand to hold even one lap steel, much less two. For stage use, I ideally prefer a hanging stand like the old-school Hamilton KB-38 or the Hercules Hercules GS412B PLUS, but I've never found anything like that with a wide enough yoke to handle my lap steels. I have pondered modifying the yoke on one of my KB-38s to see if I can get something that would work. I also have a couple of the Hercules GS412B Plus stands and I don't see any reasonable way to mod that Auto-Grip (AGS) yoke without destroying it. It would be great if that would work because they make 2 and 3-guitar versions of that system.
But here are a few threads discussing this issue:

Some things recommended there (again for one lap steel, not two)

I use one of the older K&M A-frame acoustic guitar stands for my Clinesmith cast aluminum steel. I have to use one of the clips to narrow it down and it clamps that particular guitar pretty well without hitting the output jack. I have a few of the ones mentioned above, but they're in the attic now, I got to the point where I didn't trust them for guitars.
I think the solution here depends heavily on the exact dimensions and shape of the lap steel. |

Now that Mark Roeder has retired and is unable to do custom work, the option of a double bracket for a Deluxe34 stand is sadly no longer available. |

Thanks for the plug David, but I'm retired as well. (not the full time job, just the side stuff) Too bad too, Jim only lives less than an hour away.....Sorry, I can't help him out. _________________ Currently own, 6 Groner-tone lap steels, one 1953 Alamo Lap steel, Roland Cube, Fender Champion 40 |

Great solution, Jim ! Nice and compact for those "oh so huge" stages we often find ourselves fitting onto. _________________ David K |
