Emmons with Duane Eddy

Post by Dave Zirbel »

I love the steel picking and tone on Duane Eddy's Country record. Is Buddy playing a Shobud?

Definitely 2 of my favorite people on their respective instruments. Enjoyed that.

Don't know what guitar Buddy was using however. Looks like the LP recording Twang a Country Song was released in 1963 if that's any help.

it was recorded before Steel Guitar Jazz which was a Sho-Bud, so I'd say yes.

My Dad had that record & i used to play it a lot when i was in high school because
i liked Duane Eddys playing but i really liked the steel playing too. That was years before i tried to play pedal steel.

I remember a Guitar Player interview (from around 1970 maybe?) where Buddy cited that Duane Eddy album as some of his favorite of his own playing on record.

Hi Pete! I wonder what his answer would be if he was asked the same thing in 1980?
