There's been some discussion in other threads about the best belcranks/pullers to use on steel guitars. So let's see them all in one thread. Center pull, side pull, adjustable, square, hex and round shaft. Pics at least two angles. I AM NOT looking for opinions,I just want to see photos of all the different brands, homemade ones etc.

Based on the above photo and this one from when I had this Blanton in my shop, offset bellcranks and angled rod runs were more the rule than the exception.

Indeed not to mention bendy rods - not ideal
But I do like the idea of threaded bell crank adjustment |

In my opinion, the biggest mistake Carter made was their bellcranks with those ridiculously stupid brass dog bones (pull pin). Had 2 break while I was on gigs. On my E9 neck, I changed out all the dog bones with parts that Bill Liscomb made That a straight rod goes through and held with a set screw. A 500% improvement.

Richard is right about those dog bones. The magnum pro select,Carter's no frills brand had a better set up with a spring on the pull rod That captured the bell crank. Just MHO Tenn.Lee

Funny thing about Bell cranks an a one over one Sho Bud changer like Loyd green has played for years.
When a Sho Bud LDG is set up right you could not ask for better playability.
An the Rack an Barrel Sho Bud also has great playability.
No 14 hole Emmons's bell cranks an 3 over 2 changer is needed for a simple copeadent. |

For a 12 string 7 an 5 universal modern steel I can see you need the modern 3 over 3
Changer an a 14 hole Bell crank or a Blanton style bell cranks.
Good news is I bet Harry an David Jackson will build Johnny's new Keyless Jackson steel
Into a marvelous keyless steel an the mechanical mechanism will be spot on an very intuitive too change copeadents. |

First pic, Carter Bellcrank with pull pin (dog bone) in the top slot. Second pic are pull pins. The one on the left has lots of material in the middle that the rod hooks around, and the one one the right is close to breaking through. After all, if you have a hard stainless steel rod rubbing against a soft brass part, who do you think is going to lose that fight? Not the rod.
