I have a new Fender Champion 40 Amp. Trying to play youtube backing tracks from my laptop to the amp. Using the headset output from the computer to the aux input on the amp. Both have the 3.5mm jacks. I get a steady buzzing sound from the amp. Tried 2 different laptops and 1 desktop with the results all being the same. I get good volume but the noise is a nuisance.  |

| Is it just "buzzing" and no signal? or signal (audio) with buzzing? Makes a difference for troubleshooting. |

| Noise is continuous when making the connection from laptop to the amp. The backing track audio play is good but buzzing continues. |

I have experienced the same problem with the 3.5 mm jacks. The jacks are very small and fragile and are easily damaged if not treated gently. I have also found that some plugs, the male portion that you insert, won't always fit correctly, even if it appears that it does fit. Try a different cable. If it doesn't fit correctly it will either hum, as you described, or you get only one channel. If you get nothing at all, or nothing but continuous buzzing, the jack is probably bad.

From your description, it sounds like a ground loop hum.
Assuming the TRS cable you are using is OK, if you are powering the Laptop with the AC charger, disconnect it and run on battery, see if the hum goes away.
Fender documentation says nothing about that input, except its there. |

| I have experienced this and as Jack advised it's usually caused by the charger making a ground loop hum. You can also try a direct box between the pc and amp. That also worked for me. |

| Running the laptop on battery only did the trick. Perfect. I'll keep the battery charged as needed. Thanks for the solution! |
