CMT Giants Charley Pride special with George Strait, Wynona
We filmed this a couple of months ago, but just saw where it aired this week. Tommy Sims was music director and he assembled a very cool band. Luckily because of the material and Charley’s discography, steel guitar was needed heavily. I feel humbled and extremely undeserving for the call sometimes, but I also take honor in trying to play what some of my heroes played(a lot of Lloyd all night!) Thanks to YouTube the performance parts of the show are preserved for all to see. Hope some people enjoy it and want people to know that steel guitar is alive and well in music city.

You have been one of my favorites for some time now Eddy, and you did yourself proud on all of those numbers!
It was nice to see a whole show where the performers and musicians all had on nice clothes and no distorted guitars. Not that I don't like some of that now and then too.
And I got to see some newer artists that I had only heard of. I think I may be a Mickey Guyton fan.
Thank you for posting this. Would you be able to share the names of the other musicians? I don't recognize them.

Hey, Doug!! That means a lot coming from you. You build a fine instrument, and I’ve played that gearl driven volume pedal of yours out at the Opry(it feels so smooth!) That was a cool and unique band. Tommy Sims is not only leader, but bass, acoustic as well as singing(he’s so talented!) Annie Clements on Upright(from Maren Morris), the great Chris Rodreiguiz on guitar, Jason Roller acoustic utility, Derick Phillips(Hank Jr. and Brett Elderedge) on drums, Charley’s band leader Danny Hutchins and Demarco Johnson on keys, and background vocalists are Wendy Morten, Gene Miller, and Kim Keyes. That with a string section is a slammed lineup.
I’m thrilled you enjoyed Mickey Guyton. She’s one of the hardest working people in town and sky is the limit for her future. She loves steel guitar too! I’ve recorded a couple of albums of hers. One being a modern remake of Patsy’s, “Crazy,†and the other some slippery, theatrical steel on, “Rose’â€

Manfred! Thanks for watching those my friend. I’m wanting to go back to Europe so bad, and was thinking about you the past year and hoping y’all were doing well and staying safe.
Larry! It’s been a long time. I haven’t been to the Southern Illinois show in a minute, but I miss it and all the people that’d always go to it.
Roy, I’m so happy you enjoyed. Thanks for watching!
