Rent a pedal steel in Hawaii? Help!

Post by Peter Siegel »

Hi forum friends,
My question is a long shot:

Do any of our forum members in Hawaii know where I might be able to get my hands on / rent a E9 pedal guitar on the Big Island for 2 weeks? Single neck E9 10 would do it.

I have the good fortune of having a 2 week vacation planned for late September on the Big Island.
I recently had double good fortune of being asked to play some big (to me) gigs in mid October here in California.
So ---- I need to PRACTICE!
And those 2 vacation weeks are crucial woodshed time, just before the shows.

Bringing my very heavy D10 on the flight is not in the cards or the budget. We know how careful the airlines are...

Any and all suggestions welcome.

Many thanks in advance, and stay safe.

Peter, do you know Ned Selfe? He used to live in your neck of the woods, but last I heard he was living in Hawaii. Maybe he can help?

Try these folks on Oahu, They would probably know:

I don't know if he still owns it, but the owner might be Jim Danz.
I used to have some nice Ricks I got from there.

You might want to check for restrictions before making travel plans to Hawaii. Some areas are discouraging visitors due to the virus and predict some shortage of services etc.

Might turn into the holiday from hell due to restrictions . my advise , stay home and practice and worry about your upcoming playing engagement.

Peter, there are 2 of us pedal guys on Kauai….other islands including us all play lap or old Fender stringmasters…The virus is now out of control on all islands…The Gov and Mayors are starting to lock down again…no Hospitol beds, no rent cars, don’t be surprised if your flights get canceled…BTW, nobody comes here to woodshed..Sun, Surf, sights, bikinis, world class pakalolo , aloha Larry :D

Thank you to everyone!

Unfortunately we are gonna have to postpone our island plans and try our luck with a mainland vacation.

Cheers,
