Billy Carr passed at 1:00 this morning (7/21/21) from COVID
Billy Carr, a great steel guitarist from Seminary, Miss. will be missed by all his friends that new him from Bill Staffords Deep South Steel Guitar Convention in Gulport, MS.. Billy was 64 years old and a friend of mine since before he started playing steel. His Dad, Bill Carr was a fine steel player also.
Billy loved John Hughey's playing and could play most of Papa John's stuff note for note. I remember him posting a comment on here once that as long as he breathed that John Hughey's style would never die.
I heard from a reliable source, actually a doctor, that Billy had been diagnosed with COVID and he wouldn't let them admit him in the hospital so they sent him home. Dont know what day that was tho but he passed at 1:00 this A.M.
All of you please keep Billy's wife Glenda in your prayers.

This is just terrible news!I always looked forward to talking to him and seeing him play at Gulfport and anywhere else I could go to hear him play.He was giant in my opinion.
I bought my first guitar from Billy.I later bought two amps and a volume pedal from also.He always treated me right.
I'll certainly be praying for Glenda in the days ahead.

So sorry to hear this, bought a couple of steels from him, always tried to give the house away in extras. May God bless his family through all this.

I just saw this, it is heartbreaking news. Billy was my friend. We met many years ago when my friend R.J. Buras had the Fish Camp. We played many times together there and at the Gulfport Show. He was one of the best players I had been around. Over the years I have bought strings, amps, and other things from Billy. Always honest and straight up. He was an all around good guy and friend. During the last Gulfport show before Covid he shared his slot with us. It was always an honor to play on stage with him. Brenda and I will miss him. We will be praying for Glenda.

I'm sure Billy would really appreciate all the complements you guys have heaped on him. He will be missed sorely by all of us I'm sure.
He was certainly fair on his prices on his equipment and other supplies. I've actually seen him go in the hole on some of his sales just to keep a customer satisfied.
RIP my good friend.

Billy Carr
I only met Billy a couple of times but heard him in Gulfport a couple of years ago. Fine player and fine person from friends who knew him better than I. Prayers for family and friends.

I never had the chance to meet Billy, but I feel like I know him through all his posts on the forum over the years.
I wish everyone well during this mourning period.

Chris and Casey almost everyone that dealt with Billy would tell you what great deals he would give you with his sales. I never thought he was making much on his sales but evidently he was satisfied with it. He would do anything he could to further the popularity of the pedal steel.
Thanks for your comments, I know he would appreciate them
