Topic: Broken finger or what? |

I'm working on the C6th neck of a Emmons LaGrande D-10. Pedal 5 is rodded to lower the 5th string G to F# as usual. The rod pulls the changer finger and the return spring expands, as expected, but the string doesn't change pitch!  What the heck is going on here?
There are no other changes on this string. Standard C6th. I'm baffled. Any  ideas?

Could it be that the split screw is cranked in too far?

The only thing like that I had handy was an old can of Radio Shack Control Contact Cleaner and Lubricant. I've always used it to clean pots. That, plus a couple of drops of light oil between the changer blades seems to have freed things up. Whew!

This is the best product I've found to loosen up a gummy changer:
You can find it at a sporting goods store.
